Travellers Series 15 & 16 , Keighley & District MES @ Weecher, 14th & 15th October 2017

So the season begins to draw to a close after the DF65 Nationals, however there is an event up on the moors above the Aire Valley that shouldn’t be missed.  If it does nothing else it will certainly blow the cobwebs away.

Weecher Res. hosts the Keighley & District MES club which is an awesome place that can see the full four seasons in a day. It’s also the place where your author learnt to windsurf back in on the early 90’s!

Wrap up warm as it’ll be chilly up there in mid October and you’ll have a smashing two days of racing.

2017 DF65 & DF95 TT Series, rounds 15 & 16

Rules – Racing will the governed by the rules as defined in the RRS, MYA Standard Sailing Instructions, the current HMS, Dragonforce 65 & Dragonflite 95 Class Rules.

Closing Date: 1800 Thursday 12th October. After that time late entries may be accepted only at the
discretion of the Organizing Authority.

Racing – This is a dual class weekend. The DF65s will race on Saturday (Round 15 of the DF Racing UK TT Series) and DF95s will race on Sunday (Round 16 of the DF Racing UK TT Series).

Entry – Please contact John Tushingham by email at john@graphitecreative.co.uk with confirmation of sail number, home club, MYA number, emergency contact details, radio frequency and which days you will be sailing. Please indicate whether you will require lunch and would like to attend the Saturday evening meal, this will be payable at registration.

John will be away from 22nd Sept to 3rd Oct, he will try to respond to emails whilst away.

Additional competitor information – The competitor shall on registration at the event provide a telephone number to be used in case of emergency.
The lake is high up and quite exposed, we suggest you bring suitable clothing and advise that your boat should be capable of sailing in stronger winds.

Entry fee: £5 per day payable at registration on the day.

Boat Inspection – The Race Committee may at any time inspect any boat to ensure compliance with the Class Rules and random checks may be made throughout the event.
Schedule:

Friday 13th October

  • 00     The lake will be open for practice. Refreshments will be available
  • 16.00     The club will be closed.

                Saturday 14th October. DragonForce 65

  • 45     Race briefing
  • 10.00     First race
  • 16.00     No heat will start after 16.00; any race in progress at 16.30 will be abandoned

                Sunday 15th October. DragonFlite 95

  • 15     Race briefing
  • 09.30     First race
  • 15.30     No heat will start after 15.30; any race in progress at 16.00 will be abandoned

Parking-.  Is unrestricted and free within the club car park.

Launching–  Via Landing stage; no need for boots.

Club house. Will be available to all.

Lunches-.  Liz’s lovely hot lunches will be available on both days at £5 per lunch (2 courses + drink) per day.

The kitchen will be open from 13.00 on Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday for drinks and snacks.

Please indicate how many lunches are required with your entry. These are payable at registration. Please indicate if you have any food intolerances.

Saturday evening social. A Saturday evening meal will be arranged, probably in Ilkley. Details will be emailed to all entrants before the event.

Accommodation –  The Premier Inn, Travel Lodge and Ibis hotels are in the Keighley/Shipley valley about 10 minute drive to the sailing venue and a 20 min drive to Ilkley for the evening meal. We have also listed a selection of hotels in the Ilkley area. These are all approximately a 10-15 min drive to the sailing venue.
