So having had a brief break after the DF95 Nationals we find ourselves on a collision course with the DF65 Nationals which happen this coming weekend 1st & 2nd June at Two Islands RYC in Milton Keynes. We have a great entry of 52 skippers and currently the forecast looks like we might need more than an A plus rig for the weekend with Sunday looking particularly breezy at the minute with a mix of weather too.

Social, as usual, will take place Friday and Saturday evenings at the on site pub situated conveniently next door to the lakeside Premier Inn where most of us are staying.

We have an up to date entry list available for viewing here – DF65 Nats 19 where you’ll be able to see all the runners and riders for the weekend. There is a big contingent of Swedish skippers, some of who fared well at the DF95 European Regatta in mid April, we’ll be expecting to do well here too.

Defending Champion Alex Cory has entered, but will he appear and which boat will he be sailing? Tushy is fresh from his recent triumph at Eastbourne and he’ll be one to watch as will be the usual suspects from the UK TT Circuit.

Practice kicks off Friday afternoon with the first race going off around 10am on Saturday morning.

Good luck to all those skippers taking part.

DF95 Nationals Report

Beachy Head…nice.

So we are back at base, rested and ready for action. We’ve written a report, updated the TT results and now it’s time for coffee, or maybe a little Victorian tea rave!! Check out the Results page for details. We’ve had a link to some photos that were taken by local skipper Dave Pickett, check them out here.

DF95 Final Tally

Sideways results before the long trip home. Tushy made the best of the day with his lucky shorts. Pauli lost his mojo in the last couple of races and I stayed consistent right up until the last 2 metres of the last race when I had rudder servo failure and failed to finish! More tomorrow.

Housekeeping!

So we are a couple of days out from the DF95 Nationals at Eastbourne. We have a bumper entry of 60 skippers and if you are one of those skippers you should have had  an email from Jes Collier about the social arrangements for the weekend. Friday is Italian and Saturday is Chinese, if you want to join in please reply to the email as directed.

It’s promising to be a light weekend wind wise so there will be plenty of time for catching up with people you haven’t seen recently. There might be a shower or two on Saturday but generally the weekend looks pretty good on the weather front so don’t forget your suncream and also a comfy chair to sit in!

We have had some news from Alton Water who have, sadly, had to cancel the TT we had planned for September. They are having ongoing issues with Anglian Water and cannot guarantee that these will be sorted by the time the TT comes round. We have decided not to replace this event as we have our “away day” event in Holland soon after which covers the September event.

Other than that it’s time to concentrate on the DF95 and DF65 Nationals. Good luck to all those competing.

DF National Championships Final Call!

So the next five weeks sees both the DF95 and DF65 Nationals taking place with entries closing for both events over the next couple of days. We have a healthy fifty plus entry for the first event which is the DF95 Nationals being held at Eastbourne. We are hovering around forty entries for the DF65 Nationals being held at Two Islands RYC in Milton Keynes.

Both events promise to be excellent both in terms of sailing and social with entries from Sweden, USA and the Netherlands as well as healthy numbers from the UK including new skippers.

If you are undecided as to whether to enter or not then you’ve got until midnight on the 5th May to get your entry in for either or both events. Details of both are available on the Events page.

Hope to see you there!
