Overseas yachting

We’ve been contacted by Belgium who have informed us of the Flanders Cup event for 2024 which takes place later this year. Not a difficult hop over the channel for many of the South coast skippers and I’m sure it will be a jolly good event too. For more details on how to get involved please check out the website by clicking here.

Summer Events News

So, it’s been a while since we last posted but we’re all still here which is good news all round. We have a couple of events coming up later in June and July. The first events are rounds 8 & 9 of the TT series at Eastbourne. Always a great event with plenty of good people to chat to in lovely surroundings usually coupled with some great racing too. Get yourself on the entry list for the event by clicking here.

In July we have the DF95 Nationals up on the moors at Keighley. Another great venue which can feel like January even in July so take all of your clothes just in case! The racing will be great and the social will be just as good. Well worth a trip “oop North” Get involved by clicking here.

With the 95 Nationals making up round 10 of the 2024 TT calendar that just leaves the last two rounds at Fleetwood in October.

Other than the above it seems that team GBR had a tough week in Sweden at the DF65 Globals where even the top UK skippers seemed to struggle with the conditions. All reported a superb event with plenty of good socials with new friends from around the globe.

At the closing dinner of the DF65 Globals it was announced that the next championship will be in 2026 for the DF95 class and it will be held at Theewaters SC an hour or so outside Cape Town in South Africa. Looks like a great venue to do some racing.

DF65 Globals, how to keep up to date/

Yesterday (12th May) the 2024 DF65 Globals got underway in Sweden. The weather looked lovely and eventually the breeze turned up and allowed a good day’s racing.

Looks like the Swedes are dominating so far, which would be about right given the location and the fact that they have been training at the venue! Tush is top GBR skipper and is climbing the board steadily.

The organisers have a great Facebook page that is being kept up to date with all the latest information including results, videos and other good stuff.

If you want to keep up to date over the next few days of racing then please click here

Good luck to all the skippers taking part.

M&S TT Event @ Eastbourne

Do you live in the M&S district and have a DF95? Then why not get involved in the TT series. This will be third event in the series. There are three more events after this one so you can qualify for the series!

Full details of the date, time and how to enter will be on the NoR which can be found by clicking here.

DF65 UK Nationals Report

Next stop for some is Sweden, otherwise it’s a month off and we’ll see you in Eastbourne in June.

DF65 Nationals Final Score

Well done to all those involved at Gosport this weekend, tricky conditions for both skippers and organisers. In the end it was John Tushingham who took the win from Craig Richards and Derek Priestley.

Results below and I guess someone might send a report through early week.

DF65 Nationals Day 1

Gosport seems to have delivered a light wind day one with breeze across the pond. The race team have managed to get 6 races in before close of play.

John Tushingham heads the board with the top six taking a lead into the second day. That said it seems that anything can and probably will happen on day two.
