Big coats and small rigs required

TT’s 1 & 2 are almost upon us and perhaps it is a good idea if we offer some advice to the skippers. The breeze looks like it will be up on both days so you will need something other than your A plus rig for Saturday and something other than your A rig for Sunday. I’m sure you’ve all spent the first half of this month diligently checking all your rigs, however I’d suggest double checking the smaller ones again and making sure your knots are really tight!

For the Southern skippers remember to bring thermal underwear and your big coat, possibly gloves and a woolly hat.

Forecasts currently suggesting mid to high 20 mph on Saturday and something biblical on Sunday.

2024 Class Rules

As you’ll no doubt be aware the DFICA has conducted some consultation to get the class rules for both DF65 and DF95 up to date in a manner that included input from all member nations.

The new class rules are now online and are effective from January 1st 2024. There is also some rationale from the Rules Committee so that you can see the reasoning behind the changes.

Edit-For those that can’t find them the new class rules are under the relevant class heading on the main menu.

Have a great 2024 racing season.

2024 News Along with a bit of Twixmas

So, just before you get comfy for Christmas and you become full of cheese and wine why don’t you get excited about the 2024 DF Racing UK TT Series. Dates have been published under the Events drop down.

Twelve events to head to this year with notables being a return to West Lancs, a visit to Blithfield which is a new venue for us and a host of our usual stops around the country. Nationals are Gosport for the DF65 and Keighley for the DF95, both great venues.

Before that all kicks off there is a last chance to get your DF95 on the water for a race. Head to Fleetwood on the 28th December for the Twixmas regatta. Take your IOM, stay the night and race that on the 29th December. Pretty sure it’ll be a giggle. Head over to the MYA events page for more details.

It is almost time to post the AGM notice once again, if anyone has anything to say or wants to step up and get involved with the running of the two classes then watch out for the notice which will appear on the 18th December.

We also have some places available for the 2024 DF65 Global regatta in Sweden, If you want to go and haven’t been contacted please get in touch with Mr Tushingham and he should be able to find you a spot. Up until very recently there has been almost no information about the event which has led to a lower initial entry than the organisers had hoped. I’m sure the places will fill up soon enough.

Other than that on behalf of the DF Racing UK team we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We’ll see you at the side of a pond somewhere soon!

Fleetwood Report

Thirsty Friday

A good weekend was had by all at Fleetwood. Some amazing conditions on Saturday followed by some miserable ones on Sunday…but not for the reasons you might think. Head over to the Results 2023 page to take a look. No updated overall series scores just yet I’ve not had them and going on this year’s job I don’t think Peter thought I’d be this efficient with the report!
