DF95 Nationals Report & Pictures

Fleet 1

Close racing – Photo Sue Brown

So we are just over 24 hours from the end of the second DF95 UK Nationals and we have a report and some very cool pictures for you all to take a look at.

We also have an updated TT score sheet which takes into account the latest results from this weekends Championship.

To read all about it head over to the Results page

More superb sailing!

So day two of the DF95 Nationals kicked off under some blue sky and with some good breeze.

With the course tweaked a little bit from yesterday race eleven began and was won by a certain Mr Tushingham who had held the overnight lead.

Lots of super close racing through the fleet with several of the final scores separated by just a few points.

Unsurprisingly John Tushingham took home the chocolates and was crowned DF95 National Champion once again with a score of 24 from 20 races.

Second was Derek Priestley with 55 points, Ken Binks took third spot by a handful of points from Mike Weston who remained sober for a full weekend!

John Brierley rounded out the top 5 on 112 points.

There will be a full report soon with a link to the photos that Sue Brown took.

In the meantime please find most of the score sheet below.

Genuine Champagne Sailing!

IMG_2877So the DF95 Nationals are ten races deep and we are having a ball! The wind has been steady in direction but up and down in speed all day.

A mix of B and C rigs has been the order of the day with lots of great racing taking place across the two fleets all day.

Skies have been blue, spirits have been high and the race team have done a great a great job in keeping the 38 competitors in check.

We are now taking refreshments in the bar and will do so until we are thrown out.

Oh, results. JT leads from Uncle Derek with a sober Mike Weston in third. It’s close at the top and with JT not winning all the races there is all to play for.

It’s Nearly Time to go Racing…

Wednesday evening and we could almost start to get excited about the weekend ahead. The current forecast sees a reasonable weekend with some solid breeze on the cards as well as some sunshine, one thing is for sure, it certainly won’t be as cold as last years DF95 Nationals….it couldn’t possibly be!

The seeding heats have now been posted on the Events page so you can see exactly who you’ll be racing against on Saturday morning.

There will be some sort of social gathering at the on site pub on Friday evening after some practice on Friday afternoon, lord knows I need it!

DF95 Nationals One Week Away

So the entry is officially closed now for the 2017 DF95 Nationals at Two Islands RYC which starts in just a weeks time.

Friday practice will be well underway for some and for others a mad after work dash for the debrief will be on the cards.

The final entry list is available on the Events page and we are pleased to say that we have 40 entries for the event. If you still think you should have entered then please throw an entry over and I’m sure that the organisers will be ok with that.

I have also, belatedly, (apologies) uploaded the report from Gosport a couple of weeks ago. It is available on the Results page.

Time for some practice for me……

Updated TT Series Results Sheet

So, unless you are John Tushingham there is still all to play for in the DF Racing 2017 TT Race Series. The overall results sheet has been updated and is now available to view on the results page where you can see that more than 100 skippers are now scoring points in the series which has now had 10 rounds completed with the latest event at Gosport taking place over the last weekend. Whilst we don’t yet have a report on the event we do have the results from both days and some video of the DF65 racing from Saturday, it’s all available on the results page.

Don’t forget to get your entry in for the DF95 Nationals at Two Islands RYC, the deadline for entries is the 27th May….don’t miss out, come and join the 36 other skippers who are taking part.

DF95 Nationals Entry Deadline Almost Here.

So we are a couple of weeks out from the start gun going at the 2017 DF95 Nationals and we are up to 33 entries. There are still a few of the usual suspects who haven’t come forward yet, but fear not, the official entry deadline is just one week away on the 27th May. I think that somewhere along the way I perhaps forgot to mention that the sensible way to enter the event is via the MYA online entry page which has been set up. Please click here to be whisked to the entry form so you too can enter the premier DF95 event of 2017. The event is based next to a very good hotel and pub (I have personally road tested both) so there is no excuse for not getting involved. Once again….ONLINE ENTRY FORM HERE…..

Also, good luck to those of your competing at Gosport this weekend…lucky people.

Just in case you don’t remember the 2016 Nationals….here is a photo of the competitors before the first race, it looks like one of them has passed out he was so cold…..

Hopefully there will be less of a need for thermals at this years DF95 Nationals at 2 Islands RYC. – Photo Sue Brown.

Eastern District Championship

We have had a mail from the guys at Southend MYC who organised the Eastern District DF65 Championship which was hosted at Coalhouse Fort RYC. There is no point in me re writing the report that already exists so here is a link to the very good report and results.

To read the report and check out the results please click here

On another note, don’t forget the next round of the DF Racing UK TT series takes place this weekend at Gosport, get your entry sorted here.

Gosport TT Getting Close

So, rounds 9 & 10 of the DF Racing TT Series 2017 are getting closer and with around two weeks to go until the start gun goes it seems that entries for the two days aren’t as plentiful as we might have hoped. We have the NoR for both days on the events page with details of how to get involved so there are no excuses.

With big DF fleets all along the South coast and not much distance to travel you really should be getting an entry in for the two days of racing at possibly the most historic Model Yachting Club in the South of England. A couple of pictures below of how the place looked in the late 70’s and another of some more recent action at the pond.

If you are planning to race either day then please let the organisers know.

Exciting Times!

So the DF95 is now an MYA affiliated class, this is great news for the class as it stands the same as the DF65 which was affiliated a couple of years back and has seen many new skippers join the sport and the MYA. The DF95 is following suit with numbers growing at a steady rate over the first quarter of 2017.

The entry for the DF95 Nationals was opened a week or so ago and within 24 hours we had over 20 entries and counting, it looks like being a great Championship with entries from Europe also being taken.

There are a couple of events on the horizon, one at Balne Moor on Sunday 23rd April, details on the Events page.

We have also had some info from the Southend Club who are hosting the Eastern District DF65 Championship, details are available on the ED Website by clicking here

There was also a pop up event at Fleetwood over the Easter weekend where 20 boats appeared and had a great days sailing. There is a report on the Fleetwood website which you can read by clicking here.
