So today was difficult for everyone. Yesterday saw us all in small rigs and today we were all in big rigs and at times we could have done with bigger rigs. An early postponement as the wind filled in but it was patchy for most of the day when we got going. Full up to date results posted below. one day left, it could be any one of three or four peoples race!

So we are now sat in an Italian restaurant in Fleetwood, it’s quite good too. Results for day one of the 2021 DF95 Nationals are posted below. Unusually it’s quite tight at the top.

So, we are just two days away from the gun going on the 2021 DF95 Nationals up at Fleetwood MYPBC and the big question is…..who’s the favourite for the title? Lets take a quick look at the contenders.

First up we have Global Champ John Tushingham, fresh from his top spot finish at the DF65 Nationals a couple of weeks back he’s got to be right up there for the win. He’s been tuning up his new 95 at his club for a couple of months now and always enjoys a trip to Fleetwood.

US skipper Mark Golison was second at the Global’s in 2018 behind JT. As 3 times US 95 Champ he should be in with a good shot of beating JT, could jetlag be an issue? Who knows?

Swede Jonas “Black sails” Samson is another strong contender for the win, he showed well at the Global’s in ’18 and shouldn’t be overlooked.

If he’s allowed out of the country Aussie skipper Chris Dance is a canny chap on the racecourse and could well be a threat.

Craig Richards showed well at the IOM Nationals with his new boat, but will he fair well in a restricted class?

Tjakko Keizer is always strong unless there are jellyfish!

There’s always Tim “Snackers” Long to look out for, he’ll either have a great championship or drink too much and enjoy the social far too much and not feature.

In short, there are any number of skippers that could make a great challenge for the 2021 title, to finish anywhere in the top ten of this fleet would be a great result for any skipper. Racing is sure to be tight with a bad route up the beat having the potential to cost you anything from one to five places or more.

The weather looks like it should offer us some breeze for practice day and Friday’s racing but the weekend forecast currently sees the wind dying and moving around a lot which could give the race team a headache or two over the last two days of racing.

I’ll try and post a couple of end of day updates as we go along but there’s bound to be lots of pictures and info on Facebook which is much quicker than me, a pint or four and a steam powered laptop!

Can’t see your name on the heat board for the upcoming DF95 Nationals? Well that’s because you haven’t entered, so get yourself over to the event page and get in touch with your vitals and you’ll soon find yourself on the board. There is still plenty of time to get an entry in so if you are umming and ahhing then now’s your chance.

We’ll be bringing you more details as the event grows ever closer we are now only ten days or so away from a tuning talk by John Tush and Derek Priestley where you can learn how they set up their boats for competition and later there will be a debrief in The Mount where you’ll forget it all again!

So we’ve had a busy day for the race team with a course reset and several alterations as the breeze clocked around and eventually petered out, well almost. Lovely weather, 5 races completed and 6A first on in the morning. Best try an early night….

Plenty of skippers have pitched up and are ready for a weekend of hotly contested racing at the 2021 UK Nationals here at Poole RYC.

Might be a bit before the wind fills in sufficiently for racing to get underway but we’re sure that PRO Peter Wiles will make the best of it for us.

Evening folks, just a quick update on the upcoming DF65 and DF95 Nationals which take place at the front end and back end of September.

There is lots of preparation underway at both host clubs and the skippers that have entered are assured of a warm welcome at both clubs who have posted requests for breeze at both events. Hopefully that will be the case and we’ll have two great championships.

Haven’t entered yet? Well there is still space at both events for you and your boat. There have been a few foreign entries who have dropped out due to ongoing restrictions which is entirely understandable. For the 65’s there are a good few spots available and with two and a half weeks to go you should get yourself entered into the event. There are fewer spaces for the 95’s but if you fancy a crack at the Nationals then there is space for you and your boat here too.

So if you fancy a weekend away, either at the start or end of September then there is National Championship for you. We can guarantee that you’ll be welcomed into the fleet and given pointers and assistance along the way. What’s not to like, we’ll see you there!
