Seasons Greetings

It’s that time where we need to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a splendid new year. There is lots to looks forward to in the new year with plenty of DF class racing to be done, qualification for the 2026 DF95 Globals to be done.

If you fancy some racing during that bit of the year where you’re confused about what day it is then check out the Fleetwood Twixmas event, if you have a DF95 and an IOM you can race both days.

However, in the meantime please have a restful Christmas and new year from all of us here at the DFUK Class association.

AGM 2025

We are pleased to announce the 2025 DF Racing UK AGM and it’s timetable. There is a dedicated page in the menu which lays out what happens and when it should happen and how you can get involved.

We say this every year, it’s your association and if you have a suggestion or a strong view on something relating to the UK association then now is your time to speak up and be heard. You could even volunteer to get involved with the running of the association and run for one of the roles on the committee.

It is, sadly, unlikely that many of you will get involved in any of the process but perhaps 2025 is the year where we have a bumper vote…….

2025 DF Racing UK TT Calendar

Afternoon skippers, please get your laptop out and start booking hotels for next years TT series. It is a packed calendar with 14 rounds to improve your racing and try to beat the best skippers in the UK.

Use the dropdown menu under Events to take a look at the venues and dates.

As many of you will be aware there is another DF95 Global Championship being held in South Africa in 2026 and the UK TT DF95 events held in the 2025 season will make up the DF95 ranking list of UK skippers for the event.

There are seven UK DF95 events in the 2025 calendar and your best four results will count towards your ranking.

The event is being held at Theewaters SC, two hours East of Cape Town over the 17 – 23 October 2026.

Whilst it’s a long way off you now know what you need to do to qualify for the event should you wish to take part.

M&S TT Series Results 2024

We’ve had news from the M&S district who have held a district TT series over the last few months. Jim La Roche has sent us the following report.

The inaugural M&S DF95 TT Series 2024 completed on Thursday 7th November 2024.

Congratulations go to series winner, Dave Adams from East Kent RSC, 2nd Mike Brand, also from East Kent and 3rd, Martin Crysell from Guildford MYC.

I’d like to thank the clubs – Hampton Court MYC, Guildford MYC, Eastbourne & District MYC, Chipstead SC RS, Gosport MYBC and East Kent RSC for hosting events and all the volunteers that helped run them. Thanks also go to the 66 skippers that entered the series. Whilst 52 entered at their own club, 29 of those made 61 journeys to other clubs.

It looks there will be 7 events next year with 5 to count. They will be on the MYA calendar soon. I hope to see good entries next year.

DF95 Nationals day one

Craig seems to be in charge

A frustrating day for many skippers, soft breeze with big shifts and holes and a typically Southport direction meant that the PRO had to change the course several times during the day. Good effort all round and we’ve retired to the bar now. More of the same tomorrow.

DF95 Nationals – Last Call

With the DF95 Nationals at West Lancs YC only a few days away today is your last chance to get yourself involved. You’ve got until 2100 this evening to get your entry in for the event. We are currently up to 47 entries and whilst unlikely it would be nice to hit 50. Weather looks good, wind looks pretty fair as well, what’s not to like!

For full details head over to the MYA online entry before 2100.

Fleetwood Results and 95 Nationals info

So, a week after the event I have added the results and overall scores to the Results 24 page. The Fleetwood weekend sounds very much like a game of two halves, super windy Saturday and not enough on Sunday. Uncle Derek hadn’t set the dial quite right for the two days but it sounds like everyone had fun which is where its at. Check out the scores by clicking here.

That was technically the end of the 2024 TT season, however there is still the DF95 Nationals to run which will take place at West Lancs YC over the weekend of the 9th and 10th November. There is still plenty of time to enter the event should you wish to do so. The entry list currently stands at 37 as I write. There is always a warm welcome at the club and the facilities are second to none with a warm clubhouse and rigging area. Well worth the trip. For full details please click here.

Registrar Away

Morning folks, if you are new to either of the DF classes here in the UK and your are looking to register your boat with us to get a sail number then please be aware that Jen, our hard working registrar is having a holiday. Don’t panic, we’ve organised a stand in, Jim our Chair, and he will be getting stuck in to keeping up to date with the registration requests as they come in. There may be a short delay in your registration being completed so bear with us,

Have a great adventure Jen!
