A forecast of some showers followed by some afternoon sunshine were about right, the breeze didn’t do quite what had been suggested which meant a day of A plus sailing for most with a couple of races in A suit for some.

As ever the Lincoln race team were super organised and ran a great day of racing and along with the tea ladies the competitors were kept fed and watered through the day.

The racing itself ended up being somewhat predictable at the top of the scoreboard with JT taking top spot including a brace of 5th place scores to count it certainly wasn’t the usual whitewash. The usual bunch fought it out along with the 21 skippers and in the end the best of the rest was Derek Priestley followed in third spot by Tim Long. Fourth to sixth were covered by just 8 points with Weston, Ken and Peter Baldwin in that order.

The rest of the fleet were similarly close with the usual battles taking place and keeping everyone on their toes.

The final day of the TT series happens tomorrow and with a slightly better overall forecast it promises to be a cracker.

So after 5.5 miles of walking we are off to the pub!

Although the entry for the Lincoln end of season shindig was due to close on the 2nd November it has been extended until the Saturday morning of the 4th approximately 10 minutes before the start gun sounds!

As you may be aware from the previous post it seems there was some confusion over the entry email, this is now sorted and as requested could you please ping an entry through to Ed Whittaker via the link on the event page.

The racing will be great as usual and the social will be equally as good on both Friday and Saturday evenings at The Railway pub just a short drive from the lake.

With a week to go until the season finale at Lincoln we are somewhat lacking in entries, however we’ve found the problem and rectified it. If you have already entered the event and have not heard back from Ed Whittaker having used the email link on the Notice of Race, could you please enter again. Ed has agreed to keep the entry open up until race day.

It seems that the original NoR had an incorrect email address which has certainly sent a few emails to the wrong place.

Sorry this report is a little late but I’ve been on holiday and had only my phone and a patchy wifi signal over the last week.

Anyhow, whilst I was away the DF Racing circus rolled onto the moors above the Aire Valley and it seems that the skippers had a jolly good weekend of close racing.

We have published the dates for our 2018 DF TT Series which you’ll find on the menu above.  The season will consist of sixteen events over nine weekends and includes two National Championships.

So the DF65 Nationals went of this weekend with 41 skippers taking part in the end. Lots of great racing, lots of great social, all in all a great weekend, summed up by the picture below. Read all about the racing and the results on the Results page.

So we are a couple of days out from the start gun for the 2017 DF65 Nationals and we have 46 entries ready to compete for the coveted John Wesley Trophy which has spent a couple of years on a shelf in Yorkshire. There is a good mix of abilities taking part with some first timers along with some more seasoned competitors, all of whom will no doubt have an awesome time both on and off the racecourse.  Good luck to all those competing.

DF65’s at Eastbourne earlier in the season

Moving on from the Nationals our next TT event is taking place at Keighley over the weekend of the 14th & 15th of October. For those of you who haven’t ever visited the club up on the moors, it’s certainly well worth the effort. Details of the event, including the all important Notice of Race, are posted here.  Whilst John is away for ten days he will try and confirm your entry to the event as soon as he is able to.

Looking further ahead we have the season finale at Lincoln over bonfire weekend which promises to be another great weekends sailing and social.

As the DF Racing Class Association we took a stand at the 2017 RYA Dinghy show which was a really good way to promote our classes to the wider sailing public. It turned out that lots of people already know about the boats and we were overwhelmed by the response to our attendance at the show.  We have now secured the same stand for the 2018 RYA Dinghy Show which takes place over the weekend of 3rd & 4th March. Come and see us and get your 2018 season off to a great start.

Talking of 2018 we ave some dates for the Class Championships.  The DF65 Nationals will be taking place at Gosport over the weekend of the 19th & 20th May and the DF95 Championships will take place up on the moors at Keighley over the weekend of 7th & 8th July.  Get those dates into your diaries so you don’t book anything else for those weekends…unlike me who has a wedding anniversary and a childs birthday planned for those weekends…..

The Fleetwood weekend was a mix of local competitors with an odd visitor who all had fun, Saturday wasn’t the best Fleetwood direction, but good sailing was definitely had on Sunday with the DF95’s. Results posted on the Fleetwood site – Here
